Both guitars are my G2S model steel string guitars with a 12 fret neck, slotted headstock, and elevated fingerboard like the guitar featured in the image above and to the left.

Brazilian Rosewood 12 fret slotted headstock G2S

A stunning Brazilian Rosewood back and sides with a German Spruce top. It has snake wood accents and will have Koa Bindings. It is intended to have a 1.75″ nut and 2.25″ string spacing at the bridge. I haven’t begun building the neck yet, (though I intend to soon) so it is not to late to customize to your specifications.
Indian Rosewood 12 Fret slotted headstock G2S

Beautiful Indian Rosewood back / sides, and German spruce top with Koa bindings and Lacewood Purflings. This guitar is also set to have the standard 1.75″ nut and 2.25″ string spacing at the saddle, however I haven’t started its neck yet and it could be customized to fit your needs as well. Here is the best part about this one, I’m offering it at a discounted price because it was very slightly damaged while I was building the body and it has been fully repaired. Contact me to find out more.

The 12 Fret slotted headstock version of the Geneis G2 acoustic guitar has become one of my most popular models. The lower bought is only 14.5″ wide but the sound is amazingly full and rich. The 12 fret neck lets the bridge be positioned in a more optimal spot for obtaining the best overall tone and power. Even at the 25.4 scale length this guitar has a very deep and powerful bass that is quick and tight. Alternate tunings are perfect for this guitar because of its dark yet clear voice, rich trebles, and powerful bass response,

I usually refer to these guitars as “12 Fret” but the asymmetry of the body actually makes it a 13 fret neck joint on the treble side. So you get the added richness and power of the “12 fret” neck but only have the neck/body joint located one fret less than the usual 14 fret joint position traditionally seen on many acoustic guitars. In addition the asymmetry of the body gives added access to the upper frets which also aids in a more comfortable reach to the higher notes.

For even better access to upper frets, check out my elevated fingerboard version of this model.

The bearclaw Spruce top on this guitar was one of the best I have ever used. Its looks are great but it was amazingly light and resonant. The lower mass gives the guitar extraordinary power and sensitivity without sacrificing structural integrity.

This steel string guitar also features abalone perfling inlay around the top and the fingerboard edges. A nice contrast to the dark ebony bindings and rich red/brown Brazilian Rosewood back and sides.

This guitar is the latest version in the evolution of the Genesis guitar project that I began in 2000. It incorporates several new design features and improvements, the most striking being the elevated fingerboard design.

I am extremely excited about this model as it some how has the perfect balance of qualities, than certain something where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I sometimes would sit for hours just listening to the notes, not really playing music but lost in the rich complexity and subtle power of the voice of this guitar. Its long gone now in its new home in Australia but I still think of it often.

Having the elevated fingerboard provides better access to the upper frets which is great but it does something even better than that too. It slightly changes the angle at which the strings approach the soundboard. Its not a huge difference but enough to make a very noticeable improvement in the *voice of the guitar.

With the elevated fingerboard design the arrangement of bridge, neck, and fingerboard moves a step closer to being like a harp. On a harp the string approaches the soundboard at a very steep angle and the sound is well,….. harp like. Maybe lush, round, full, pure …… there are many words I can use to describe what I experience when hearing a harp and hearing this guitar. The guitar with the elevated fingerboard simply sounds better in my opinion and as a bonus is also easier to reach the upper frets. I think it looks cool too!

I have a nylon string version of this design with the addition of fan frets that you can see by clicking the following link. Nylon String Fan Fret Guitar I’m hoping to build a fan fret steel string elevated fingerboard version of this guitar soon, which I believe will be another giant step in the evolution of the Genesis project.

*Just as a side note, you may notice that use the term”voice” a lot rater than tone or some other descriptive word. This is because what I am after is a voice, like a human voice its musical, lyrical, it sounds alive, it touches your heart when you hear it. Like a singer you might have heard in the past who doesn’t even try, they simply let out the gift that they have been given through their voice, that’s what I’m after and that’s what this guitar has.

If you are looking for a small comfortable acoustic seven string guitar with a deep, powerful bass…. look no further!

The G2 seven string model is only 14.5″ wide in the lower bought and yet still has more bass than many guitars much larger. I’m sure you have heard the acoustic seven string guitars where the bass string was a like a loose rubber band and was obviously an afterthought to the guitars design, this is not one of those guitars.

The G2s guitar design allows for a longer vibrating surface of the top which in effect increases the usable (to make sound) area of the top of the guitar. This helps to move more air and thus a fuller, deeper, louder tone. Kind of like the difference between an 8″ woofer and a 16″ woofer on your home stereo.

This guitar is now available in both the elevated finger board and fan fret multi scale versions. The guitar pictures has a 25.4 scale but custom scales are available upon request.
